Organic solvent

Thinners comprise three types: genuine solvent, latent solvent, and diluent.

Genuine
solvent
This has the capacity to dissolve resins, which form the skeleton of coating film.
Latent
solvent
It doesn't have the ability to dissolve resin, however, its solvent strength and drying properties can be adjusted through mixing with genuine solvent.
Diluent
By itself, it doesn't have the ability to dissolve resins, however, it is added as a bulking agent for adjusting the viscosity of paints to an appropriate level.

The characteristics according to each functional group, and the solvent classifications are as follows.

Introduction which kind of solvent group is used for each type of thinner for paint.

一般的に、希釈剤には、トルエン・キシレンなどの「芳香族」炭化水素系が多く使われています。また、真溶剤には、ケトン系も多く使われています。
